Watch Jersey Shore Season 3 Episode 9: I know "Jersey Shore" is largely invested in taking things to the next level, which isn't difficult to do when you start at a level just below common street filth. The show only works if it can continually top its own shenanigans on a weekly basis -- and by "works," I mean, "keeps people tuning in out of morbid curiosity and or the chance to see someone from their high school get publicly embarrassed.

Jersey Shore Season 3 Episode 9: For those of you who had "two weeks" in the office pool betting how long it would take "Sammi" to come back to "Jersey Shore": congratulations! You see, because she's drawn to the madness of Seaside life (or because MTV's paying her an awful lot of money), "Sammi" made her triumphant return on Thursday, shirking the advice of her mother and sister in order to return to the house with the lunkhead who's been driving her nuts for a year now. Simply stunning.

In retaliation, Mike called the girls a cab to take them to Jenkinson's, only he told the cab driver to drive them to NYC instead. Again, "undesirable position." Mike almost got it. He had them thinking one thing and doing another, but for this prank to work he needed to send them blindly into a self-help seminar or the DMV, not arguably the greatest place in the world to hang out and get wasted.

Jersey Shore Season 3 Episode 9: But MTV certainly made us wait for the inevitable reunion, even teasing us at first with the idea of a happy, single Ronnie. It begins when we meet Ronnie's dad, who is roughly 1/10th the size of Ronnie and yet about 10 times as rational. Papa Ronnie advises that time heals all wounds, offering a reassuring "you can do it, bro" to his son. No, seriously, he actually says that. Ronnie is a bit skeptical at this notion, but he seems to find his smile again anyway after the one-on-one time with his dad.

After much (read: a couple hours') deliberation, "Sammi" decides to come back to the house. In the episode's final shot, she breezes back through the shore-house doors while her erstwhile ex is brewing up some fresh Ron-Ron Juice. The big guy's face plummets as Pauly D deadpans, "Hi, Sam!" and he heads for higher ground, liquor in hand, without another word. Awkward.

When the boys got back from dinner, they avoided Mike, standing their ground, prompting him to say "That's just how the troops will act without their general." As the food comas started to wear off, Mike vented his frustrations with his unappreciative boys, and everything was back to normal for Deena and Snooki's return when they told Mike exactly where he could go and what he could do there.

Our major B-plot is a "Snooki-heavy one". First, she deems Gianni, her latest smush, as a one-and-done conquest. One failed repeat with Nick (an earlier smush from the beginning of the season) later, and "Snooki" starts to get that warm, fuzzy feeling for Vinny again. She tries to seduce Vinny after a drunken grindfest at Bamboo, but he turns her down. A downtrodden "Snooki" whines that Vinny can't make up his mind whether he wants to sleep with her or not. Because the straightup "NO" he's been giving her for the entire season is evidently too convoluted a response for her.
